Before I’m Too Old

Before I'm too old, I hope to know myself
No mansions or gold, just intellectual wealth
To dance and to sing, to love, and be kind
No extravagance or gems, only peace of mind

Before I'm too old, I want to know true love
No lust or disloyalty, one sent from above
To have and to hold, till death do us part
No money or diamonds, just knowledge of art

Before I'm too old, I want to know what's real
No drugs or guns, to me, that has no appeal
To exist and just be, no over-the-top life
No justification, only to one day, up and rise

Before I'm too old, I want to see my kids smile
No sadness or despair, to have a life worthwhile
To love God, love life, and be a parent one day too
Not a life of desperate living, to truly understand you
